Crisp, cool breezes, radiant leaves, and pumpkin spice lattes – I’m talking fall y’all! Fall is one of my favorite times of the year. And a fall wedding brings endless possibilities for décor and details. Here are the top seven trends for the fall of 2016.
Welcome back our warm fall hues! Color schemes of deep reds and purples such as burgundy and plum make a bold statement at any wedding this season. Couples are keeping the romance alive by adding soft colors such as ivory, soft blues, and grays. Have your bridesmaids wear a burgundy dress while the groomsmen wear a deep gray tux. This begins the wedding day with a more Victorian feel for any Virginia wedding.
Wow your guests with a non-traditional wedding gown. The runways are flooded with two-piece separates and full-length skirts this season. As the weather gets colder, add a vintage lace sleeve to your dress or purchase a cashmere sweater in your wedding colors. The second dress for the reception is always a big hit with the Gatsby era dresses styling in vintage lace details.
While the cake is always a highlighted piece of the evening, many couples are opting for a small ceremonial cake with a dessert bar. The famous assortment of seasonal pies is always a favorite amongst your guests. As far as your wedding cake, keep the rich colors flowing by adding berries and plums as your topper or around the base of the cake. A translucent cake is becoming the new naked cake with just a thin layer of icing and greenery on the cake.
While deciding on the centerpieces and favors, don’t neglect your wedding day stationary. If your wedding is in a barn, add a rustic wooden sign by the entrance. Getting married in a vineyard, greenery surrounding the perimeter of your chalkboard is a way to add a special touch of your venue into your wedding day.
Although the weather is getting colder, don’t turn down natural bouquets just yet. This season get ready for big, green, and leafy. As a favorite in 2016, wild-flower bouquets are a huge hit. Brides this fall are using pops of color by adding berries into their bouquets.
While non-traditional décor is making a big scene, couples are taking advantage of every square foot of their venue space. Vertical décor is becoming more popular this season with candelabras as centerpieces and leafy vinery on chandeliers.
Tired of going to a friend’s wedding and seeing the same meal on your plate every time? Get ready for the flavors of fall! Couples are staying away from tradition and creating custom bars or stations that gives their reception a personal touch. With warmer weather, coffee stands with a barista are hitting the reception site. Have a love for Hispanic food? Give your guests a chance to create their own taco at a taco bar! Thinking of providing your guests with a fully stocked bar? Hire a mixologist to wow your guests with their custom mixed drinks and awesome tricks!
